My Grandma's shell. She may have picked it up on the beach in Puerto Rico when Grandpa was stationed there. Or a gift shop, It sat on it's shelf with dozens of other memories gathered up in a life time. It was there when she cooked breakfast, watched Walter Cronkite and hugged us when we showed up to visit. Like Grandma, we took it for granted. It was just there. It didn't matter that a creature created it, there were dozens to find on the beach back then. Now you don't find many shells when you visit the beach. Like a lot of things, shells are becoming rare. Wonder if they ever had shells on Mars?

First time I got to go on an international snorkel/dive trip was to Belize in 1981. I was fifteen and we drove down in a Datsun Pickup full of dive gear, and a portable compressor, back then it was hard to find a place to fill your scuba tanks, years later I decided it was time to take a break from my Job and see Belize through a greybeards eyes, to say that San Pedro Belize has changed is an understatement, they even have a hyperbaric Facility. I will post here about snorkeling, traveling, and stuff that happens along the way. Thank You for visiting! Burnie Archives
