Big Island Kona Hawaii
Terrie and I went on a Wild Dolphin Swim in Hawaii last summer this was a boat trip and Fins where an absolute must! The Fins where supplied by the tour company www.dolphindiscoveries.com , If you are going to the big Island, I would highly recommend taking the full tour which includes both a wild spinner dolphin swim and a trip to Cooks Inlet where there is some of the best snorkeling on the Island. The owners Kevin and Claudia rent out the bottom part of their house not too far from the beach I think we paid about 65 dollars a night, It has a full Kitchen, bathroom, and living room/bedroom. You will have to inquire if it is still available I was very surprised that we where able to rent it. It is a screamin good deal, you wont find anything even close price wise at a hotel in Kona.

Xcalak Mexico
We love Mexico, When we take a vacation I usually get on www.cheaptickets.com and find a ticket for two to Cancun Mexico. It usually costs about 450.00 round trip. Another reason we love mexico is it is a relatively short flight usually around 10 hours with transfers etc. We are Snorkel-Foodies, finding amazing snorkel spots and excellent food to us is what it is all about. We have many favorite places in mexico but if you are adventurous here is one of my favorite Mexico Snorkel Vacations.
There is a little village around six hours drive south of Cancun called Xcalak. It is small quaint and relatively un developed. Westerners and Mexicans have built their private beach houses here. You can drive along the beach road out of the Village and the whole way is lined with beautiful homes right on the beach. The place we like to stay is called the Coral Garden Inn. www.coralgardeninn.com. You can rent out the whole house or just one floor. We usually rent out just one floor and it costs us 85 bux per night. It is fully equipped with stove, fridge, drinking water, and ever thing you will need to live like a king. What you do is fly into Cancun, rent a car, and head south. We always spend our first night 45 minutes south of Cancun in Playa Del Carmen. Then when we get up in the morning and drive over to Walmart or to the “Mega” store both have everything you could possibly want. www.comercialmexicana.com here is the link for mega. The Walmart is on 30th avenue between 8th and 10th street. So go in and buy yourself a couple bags of ice and some cheapo foam coolers and then go crazy buy whatever food you need and if you drink booze you can buy that there too. Then we head south to Xcalak and usually stay down there at the Coral garden Inn for 4 or 5 days. The Coral Garden Inn website has directions and can direct you better than I can. One more thing dont forget to get yourself some “reef shoes” and a good Mask, Snorkel and Fins. I would recommend buying them from a dive shop so they can help you “fit”your mask. There is nothing worse than trying to snorkel with an ill fitting mask. Also I recommend you buy a small inflatable life preserver just as a safety precaution. Have a Great Time!
