Here is the river that was crashing just a few yards away from our Cabin door at rio encantado resort. It is between Boquette and David Panama just outside a little village called Caldera. O.k. I must confess I went to Panama fully intending to Snorkel as well as get my teeth worked on. But I ended up just chillin' in the jungle next to a spring fed river (and getting my teeth repaired.) I only had ten days and the resort was just so relaxing we ended up just staying there for this trip. I'm tellin' you this is one of the most relaxing places I've ever been. There are no children under 14 allowed here which helps make this a very peaceful place. Here is the link to the resort:http://www.rioencantado.com This is the view from the top part of the Rio Encantado resort down onto the awesome super fresh and clean swimming pool (so clean that frogs sometimes will join you for a swim.) There are also cold beers in a fridge next to the pool, just leave a dollar per beer in the jar. you can see the river flowing just beyond the pool. One of the best things about this resort is you are in the middle of a jungle reserve yet there are no mosquitos! The cabin cost us about sixty dollars per nite because august is the slow season in Panama. Also the cabins come equipped with a complete kitchen with fridge and barbacue as well as cooking utensils and lots of clean hot and cold water too. Yes, you can drink the water here at Rio Encantado Resort. The Taxi from David Panama where our dentist was to the resort (about a 45 minute drive only cost us 22.00 usd. one way,) plus I always tipped our driver Ezekiel at least five dollars because he was so patient and would take us grocery shopping and never charged us for waiting! Here is Ezekiel's number if you need a Cab while in David and or Boquette Panama. just skype +507-6641-2376. I also liked the fact that his car is roomy, clean, (not to mention brand new) and the A.c. works, some of the Taxi's around David were very small indeed and I couldn't sit up straight. Here is La Doctora Luz, getting ready to work on Terrie. She did a fine job on our teeth for less than half what it would have cost us up in the states. You can find Dra. Luz's website here: http://www.panamadentalclinic.com Dra Luz speaks english also! Two Happy Gringos with our new smiles after our Panama Dental Vacation.

First time I got to go on an international snorkel/dive trip was to Belize in 1981. I was fifteen and we drove down in a Datsun Pickup full of dive gear, and a portable compressor, back then it was hard to find a place to fill your scuba tanks, years later I decided it was time to take a break from my Job and see Belize through a greybeards eyes, to say that San Pedro Belize has changed is an understatement, they even have a hyperbaric Facility. I will post here about snorkeling, traveling, and stuff that happens along the way. Thank You for visiting! Burnie Archives
